DIGITAL ARCHIVE
01
Brief
The aim of the project is to create a digital archive focused on Berlinguer's life, particularly on certain aspects such as his travels, meetings, and events he attended. The archive consists of PDF documents, images, and videos. The website also features a timeline covering both international events of recent decades and his travels.
02
Client
The Gramsci Foundation of Emilia-Romagna is dedicated to preserving all cultural aspects of authors, political figures, and intellectuals from the historical Italian left. This project arose from their desire to focus on the figure of Enrico Berlinguer.
03
Team
I handled the entire UX usability and the full UI, from individual components and their functionality on the site to branding aspects. Two developers contributed to the creation of the project.
ARCHIVIO BERLINGUER
Challenge
The main challenge was tied to two aspects: the first was visual, which I addressed through a minimalist and "brutalist" aesthetic with essential colors and a simple layout; the second was experiential, related to how users interact with and access the documents.
ARCHIVIO BERLINGUER
The aim of the project
The goal of the project was to create a digital archive primarily for researchers and scholars, as well as enthusiasts of Italian politics. The project focuses on Berlinguer’s trips abroad, which remain relatively unknown even today, and the documents related to them.
ARCHIVIO BERLINGUER
Approach and solution
The approach focused on creating an archive visually aligned with a brutalist aesthetic, reflecting the political message of the site, and on presenting the documents and timeline in a simple and intuitive way. The website is designed for a wide range of users, all united by the desire to explore documents and files related to Berlinguer’s life and his travels.
ARCHIVIO BERLINGUER
Final outcome
By the end of the project, the site features numerous accessible documents, a timeline of events with its own set of consultable documents, and pages organized by topic, as well as a collection of people and documents that can be filtered by visited countries, document type, and categories.
